Priyanka and SRK bond big time! Spicy details inside
Spicy details of what happened at the rehearsals for an awards function at Macau Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan are once again in the news as sources say that the two bonded big time during the rehearsals of an awards function in Macau. In fact, PC ignored ex-beau Shahid Kapoor and kept Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif waiting as she went on practicing her piece with SRK. Our sources tell us, "Shah Rukh and Priyanka were doing a skit, so before the event they rehearsed it, as is the norm. However, they didn't stop at just a couple of practices, but went on till they finished over half a dozen rehearsals. Though their skit was about ten minute-long, they used the stage for about an hour and a half." Fortunately for them, help came before the two began their seventh rehearsal. "Mohammed bhai, one of the Morani brothers who were organising the show, went up to Shah Rukh to request him if he could allow Shahid and Ranbir to rehearse on the stage. That's when SRK realised that they had taken considerable time and left," says our source. Interestingly, Priyanka didn't even bother to greet Shahid at the venue at all. She is said to have ignored him. If the bonding between Don and his junglee billi was expected, not many anticipated that two young Kapoors would get along so well instantly. Sensing that Ranbir Kapoor was nervous as he had never danced on stage before, Shahid went up to him to make him feel at ease. "Having trained under Shaimak Davar, Shahid is very familiar with performing on stage. More so because he has also performed many times since he became an actor. On the other hand, while Ranbir has hosted award shows, he hasn't performed on stage. So he was a bit nervous," recalls our source. Shahid requested Morani to let Ranbir and Katrina rehearse on one side of the stage while he practised his moves on the other side. Our informer elaborates, "Since he felt that Ranbir could do with more time to rehearse his performance, Shahid decided to let him also practise his moves on the stage at the same time." |

Veena Malik assaults Vedita: She banged my head on the rod
Veena Malik assaults Vedita: She banged my head on the rod
A co-star has accused the controversial Veena Malik of purposely injuring her during a fight sequence for the film 'Mumbai 125'. Malik was reportedly not on good terms with co-actress Vedita Pratap, who is learnt to have been injured on her forehead as a result of the scene. According to sources, the Pakistani actress had to pull Pratap by the neck and bang her head on an iron rod in a scene but it got too far. The director, Hemant Madhukar, had to be called in as the furious actress said that Malik had intentionally hurt her. She was reportedly nursed at a city hospital and is said to be currently undergoing treatment to get rid of the scar on her forehead. Pratap confirmed the incident and accused Malik of 'over acting'. "It was an action sequence. I was supposed to be beaten up. I don't know what happened to Veena. She actually hurt me and she did it so badly that I had nail marks on my body. I don't know what was wrong with her. And then she pushed me so badly and banged my head on the rod," the Mumbai Mirror quoted her as saying. "After the incident, I spoke to the director and told him that she is deliberately doing this. Acting is one thing, but this is just over acting," she said. When asked asked if there was any enmity between the two of them, Pratap said that Malik must be 'insecure'. "I don't know. I think somewhere she is just insecure or just waited for the opportunity to do something like this to me. As a result of the injury, I have marks on my forehead, which I have to undergo treatment to get rid off," she said. |

Kamal Haasan wants Shah Rukh Khan for remake of his Tamil film
Kamal Haasan wants Shah Rukh Khan for remake of his Tamil film
Shah Rukh Khan is in a dilemma. He has to choose between the remakes of two Tamil remakes, A R Murogadoss' Ramanna and Gautham Menon'sVettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. Both offer the picky superstar Khan a chance to do something he hasn't done before. A South Indian remake with parts that he hasn't tried before.
Says a source, "While Murugadoss' film casts SRK as a social crusader, Menon's film casts him as a cop, a role he has played just once in Shashilal Nair's One 2 Ka 4and that too a plain-clothed cop. SRK has never got a chance to get into khaki uniform. This, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu will let him do."
Indeed, Gautham Menon informs that Shah Rukh is the only choice for the Hindi remake of Vettaiyaadi Vilaiyaadi. Contrary to reports, Salman Khan is not up for consideration for the Hindi adaptation of the Gautham Menon's 2006 Tamil hit Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. It's Shah Rukh Khan all the way. Apparently, the mighty Kamal Haasan who played the role of the cop on the lookout for a serial killer in Tamil original, has expressed a keen interest in Shah Rukh playing the role in the film's Hindi version.
Says a source close to the project, "Kamalji is extremely fond of Shah Rukh. They go back a long way to the time when 12 years ago Shah Rukh agreed to do Kamalji's Hey Ram free of cost. When director Gautham Menon who understandably respects Kamalji's opinion asked the thespian who should play his role in the Hindi remake, Kamalji promptly gave Shah Rukh's name."
So Shah Rukh it is. Menon confirms this. Says the softspoken director, "I don't know where these reports of Salman Khan being an option for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu are coming from. It's Shah Rukh Khan who's the first and only choice. Kamalji played the part in the Tamil original. So Shah Rukh seems the right candidate for the part."
Kamal Haasan says, "Yes someone like Shah Rukh would be right for the Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu remake."
Interestingly, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu would explore the same dark noire cop-killer space as Aamir Khan'sTalaash.
A source close to the project tells us that the only reason Shah Rukh has not given a final nod to Gautham Menon's remake is because he wants to see how Talaash is received by the audienc

Time for old actors to come back and take control: Mona Singh
Time for old actors to come back and take control: Mona Singh
She rose to fame as the desi "Ugly Betty" in "Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi", after which Mona Singh deliberately kept away from fiction shows. As she gears up to return to TV soaps with Ekta Kapoor's "Kya Hua Tera Vaada", she says this is the right time for old actors to come back and take control of the small screen. "I have never planned anything in life; so this new show just happened. Yes, it was a deliberate decision not to take up a show immediately after 'Jassi...' I was flooded with lots of offers, but I didn't take up anything because I felt if I did anything immediately after that, I would be compared to that show," Mona told here. Post-"Jassi...", Mona switched to reality shows. "To break out of Jassi's image, I had to get into reality TV. Now that people have known me as an anchor, as a participant and as an actor, now is the right time to come back to TV. It's time for old actors to come back and take control," added the actress. Lately, actors like Mohnish Behl, Sakshi Tanwar, Ram Kapoor and Ronit Roy are getting to play key roles on the small screen, a long time after they established themselves with hit serials. Mona, who went on to win the first season of dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhla Jaa", also took to hosting reality shows like "Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega" and "Star Ya Rockstar" during her break from fiction content. She even made her way to the big screen with a small role in Rajkumar Hirani's blockbuster "3 Idiots". Now she is returning to fiction content on the tube after six years and feels with latest shows like "Bade Achhe Lagte Hain" and "Kuch Toh Log Kahenge", Indian telly is going back to basics. "TV has gone back to basics, relating to middle class family with real characters, less make-up and simple shots. I feel as an actor it is a delight to work in such shows," said the 31-year-old. "When I was doing 'Jassi...', there was also 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', which was the top show. Both the shows were at par with each other. But 'Kyunki...' was a very blingy show and 'Jassi..' was very simple, yet it did very well. "After that I could not relate to TV because most of the shows were either village-based or were very rich in look. I couldn't relate with women working in the kitchen wearing kanjeevaram saris, and sindoor falling out of the head," she added. In her upcoming show, which will go on air on Sony TV Jan 30, she will be seen as a sobre housewife. "The show talks about what happens to a couple after 10 years of marriage. It's a mature love story and talks about the little joys in life as love between the couple goes out of the window because priorities change. "You think only of your kids first, then yourself, then husband. I am sure most of the women, who have been married for the past 10-15 years will easily relate to this show," she said. So the obvious next question - when is Mona taking the plunge into marriage? "I do believe in the institution of marriage. I do see myself getting married, having children and being happily settled in life, but like I said I don't plan, so I don't know when it will happen but it will happen soon," she said. |

Jodi Breakers not a copy of 'Heartbreakers': R. Madhavan
Madhavan is not amused by the plagiarism charges leveled against his new Hindi film Jodi Breakers by the Indian distributors of the Belgian film Heartbreakers. “Let them read our script and point out even one smilarity. I challenge them to prove we’ve copied even a frame, ’ Maddy fumes. The film became embroiled in a plagiarism controversy when the Heartbreakers distributors spoke up about their doubts on the originality of Jodi Breakers. There’s a new twist to the ongoing battle between the makers of the Madhavan-Bipasha rom-com and the Indian distributors of the Belgian film Heartbreaker who claim there are resemblances between the two films. The makers of Jodi Breakers have offered to let the Heartbreakers team read the script from first page to last, provided they agree to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Apparently the Heartbreakers team is unwilling to sign the NDA. Madhavan who has rushed to Chennai for the release of his new Tamil film Vettai wants to know why the Heartbreakers team is unwilling to take up the offer. Says Maddy, “We’ve repeatedly asked them to sign an NDA and read our script. Why aren’t they accepting our invitation? If they find even a page similar we’ll do whatever is required. The fact of the matter is, there’re no similarities between our film and theirs except the similar-sounding title. Maybe in their hearts they know it too. Why is it that every time a film’s promos start, we have such allegations popping up? Substantiate your charge, please. Or face the consequences. ” |
Kapoor sisters against piracy
Kapoor sisters against piracy
Star siblings Karisma and Kareena Kapoor have urged their fans to join in the fight against film-piracy and asked them to watch movies in theatres. "Actors work so hard, directors work so hard, producers and technicians work so hard in making a movie, so we would like to tell the audience out there to please go to the cinema and watch our movies," said Karisma at an event here. Kareena, who has two big releases lined up this year -- "Agent Vinod" with beau Saif Ali Khan and Madhur Bhandarkar's "Heroine", agreed. "It (Piracy) is a racket and it should stop. You should go and only watch in theatres to see all our films and all the stars' films," she said. Year 2012 is especially "special" for her elder Karisma as she is making her comeback to filmdom after a hiatus of six years with Vikram Bhatt's "Dangerous Ishq". "Well, I think it is going to be very special because I am doing a movie after a long time and it feels wonderful that two sisters are in the same profession and have been together throughout. So, it feels good," said Karisma, who featured in movies like "Dil To Pagal Hai", "Raja Hindustani", "Biwi No.1", "Fiza" and "Zubeidaa". |

Tabu takes Salsa lessons at 40
Actor takes classes from Sandip Soparrkar to explore the fun side of 40 The elusive Tabu is expanding her horizons. Tired of her serious image, the actress wants to have some fun. Action plan No 1 is to get rid of her image as the sombre girl with two left feet. Tabu has actually decided to do something about her dancing skills, or the rumoured lack of them. She has enrolled into dancer-choreographer Sandeep Soparrkar's dancing school to learn Salsa, ballroom dancing and other forms of contemporary dance. Says a friend of the actress, "Tabu has always been a fun person. She has been unnecessarily saddled with this image of being serious. Tabu loves to dance. She has been doing so for years. Lately, she has decided to learn dance professionally." When we contacted Soparrkar, he was hesitant to discuss Tabu's dance lessons. "She has taken some lessons, " he admitted. "Then she stopped due to her travelling schedule. She's very good at dancing, she doesn't have two left feet at all. I suggested she explore her dancing skills in films, but Tabu dances to relax. She has requested that her visits be kept away from the public eye." Interestingly, Tabu put forward a fine display of her dancing skills early in her career in Vijaypath. Remember Ruk ruk ruk? Thereafter she was saddled with the image of a no-nonsense woman. We'll probably see her hitting the night spots of Mumbai more frequently now |

Immediately after completing a shoot with David Dhawan and the gang of actors of Chashme Buddoor, Ali we hear, is all set to work on an album with Katrina Kaif. Shahid out of Ranbir's world tour
Shahid out of Ranbir's world tour
Shahid Kapoor has opted out of Ranbir Kapoor's world tour this August, as his next film gets pushed ahead by six months Ever since its conceptualisation, Ranbir Kapoor's world tour has been in one problem or another. And now Shahid Kapoor has opted out of the tour, preferring to first finish his next film with director Maneesh Sharma. Sasha was supposed to join the Rockstar actor in a series of 16 odd concerts across US and some European cities this August. Sharma's next that was earlier scheduled for February end/ early March has been pushed back to mid-August. Reason: The director has suffered a slipped disc and has been advised rest till July. Our source says, "Initially, Shahid was to start shooting from end February-early March, and wrap it up by July. That's why, when the Moranis, the organisers of Ranbir's world tour, approached him he agreed to be part of it." However, late December the director suffered a slipped disc. "Since Shahid is first committed to this, he can't shoot for it and join Ranbir on the world tour at the same time, " revealed our source. When contacted, the spokesperson at the production house behind the film declined to comment on Shahid being a part of their production helmed by the Ladies vs Ricky Bahl director, but confirmed the latter's back problem. "Maneesh has a back condition. He's following his doctor's advise of taking it easy and resting, " the spokesperson said. Meanwhile, now Shahid isn't too pleased to see his work calendar empty till August. So he's asked his business manager to fix up narrations with some of the directors whose scripts he's considering. "So from the three-four scripts he was contemplating doing after Maneesh's film, one will be finalised at the earliest." |

I am not a good actor: Hrithik Roshan
He is one of the most sought after male leads in Bollywood but Hrithik Roshan still doesn't consider himself as a good actor. "I am not a good actor, in the sense that I can't just stand up and act. I take my time to get into the mindset of the character and say my lines. I really have to be the person that I am playing, " Hrithik told reporters here Monday. The actor was here along with Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra at PVR cinemas, in Ambience Mall for the promotion of their forthcoming film "Agneepath", a remake of the 1990 film starring Amitabh Bachchan in the role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. The megastar had got the national award for it. Hrithik revealed he was initially wary of taking up the role. "My first reaction was why should I do it? This is an iconic role played by Amitabh Bachchan. But when I heard the subject, screenplay and basic story, it drove through all my pre-conceived notions as an audience, as an actor and it touched my heart completely, " he said. "It was so refreshing that I forgot about the old 'Agneepath'. Moreover it was a character that I was identifying with. I felt there is no reason for not to do this film, " he added. The film, produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, is set to hit the silver screen Jan 26. |
I am unemployed: Shahid Kapoor
I am unemployed: Shahid Kapoor
While most actors have chock-a-block shooting schedules in 2012, Shahid Kapoor has no qualms in admitting that he has no work on hand as of now. The actor recently wrapped up shooting for Kunal Kohli's tentatively titled "Teri Meri Kahaani", in which he features with Priyanka Chopra. But after that, he is still waiting to lock something. "I don't like to comment on any of my films till the producers make an official announcement. All I can say is I don't have any films right now. So right now I am unemployed, " Shahid told reporters at an event organised here Monday by electronics company Pioneer India. However, his fans don't need to be disappointed, as he said: "In the second half of the year I have many films." Will his "unemployed" status come in the way of his plans of settling down? "I am available. It takes a certain amount of time to establish yourself. It's better if your partner is with you to share your journey in life, " commented the actor, whose father's directorial "Mausam" failed to mint moolah at the box office. Meanwhile, talking about working with his rumoured ex-girlfriend Priyanka, he hints that the duo will recreate their "Kaminey" chemistry in Kohli's project. "It's premature to talk about the film. It's a film which is shot over three different time periodS. It's a romantic comedy. Priyanka is a fun co-star and we share a good chemistry, " he said. Shahid wrapped up shooting on the project Jan 8. It is scheduled to release June 22. |
Another Southern hottie to gatecrash into Bollywood
Another Southern hottie to gatecrash into Bollywood
Another Southern hottie Samantha Ruth Prabhu is all set to gatecrash into Hindi cinema, with Aditya Roy Kapoor as her co-star. Remember Aditya Roy Kapoor? UTV’s Siddharth and Delhi Belly actor Kunal Roy Kapoor’s curly-haired kid-brother made quite an impression with his two debut films Action Replay and Guzaarish in 2010. Thereafter, he vanished almost to the point of non-existence, not answering messages or phone calls. It now turns out that the chuppa rustom Kapoor has actually been busy in the South shooting for a Tamil-Telugu-Hindi tri-lingual being directed by the hotshot Gautham Menon, in the news for his new Hindi film Ek Deewana Tha. Gautham apparently has shot almost the entire film already. When asked about the project the prolific Tamil-Telugu-Hindi director admitted, “Yes, I am working with Aditya Roy Kapoor in a film that I am making in three languages Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The Hindi version with Aditya is called Assi Nabbe Poorey Sau.” While Roy Kapoor plays the lead in the Hindi version of this adventure-comedy-drama, Tamil superstar Jeeva and the Telugu star Nani play the lead in the other two versions of the film. Interesting Samantha whom Gautham Menon introduced in Tamil film in 2010 stars in all three versions of the film. Says Menon, “I already have three different heroes in three different langages to deal with. In addition three heroines would’ve been impossible to handle. So Samantha stars in all three languages.” The director says shooting a tri-lingual is like making three different films. “I do one shot with Aditya and then the same shot with Jeeva and Nani.We go through everu shot three times over in exactly the same way.I’ve never done a film simultaneously in three languages.” About Aditya Roy Kapoor, Menon says, “I spotted him on the location for Vipul Shah’s Action Replay. I immediately knew he was right for Assi Nabbe Poorey Sau.” Interestingly the Roy boy has made headway on his own. Though his Bade Bhaiyya is the head honcho at UTV it has been made clear to the ladla sibling that his corporate connections in Bollywood aren’t going to get him roles. Adds Gautham Menon, “At the moment my full focus is on the release of Ek Deewana Tha.It’s simple oldfashioned love story.” |
Why Sunny leone is a perfect fit for 'Jism 2'
Why Sunny leone is a perfect fit for 'Jism 2'
Bollywood producer Pooja Bhatt believes that casting plays an important role in moviemaking, and an actor's personality must match with the character one plays. That is precisely the reason why she chose Indo- Canadian porn star Sunny Leone for the lead part in "Jism 2". "We have done authentic casting in 'Jism 2'. We have taken Sunny Leone because we want a girl who plays that kind of part and persona, " said Pooja on the sidelines of an event. "It is very important that you cast authentically. Everyone talks about out-of-the-box casting but no one does it, " added the the 39-year-old. Pooja, who has made films like "Zakhm", "Jism" and "Paap", asserts that she likes to associate with people who are genuine. "People talk about 'Zakhm' and then go and watch 'Jism'. The point is that we have decided to attach ourselves with only those who are audacious, be it Sunny Leone or anyone else; people who walk their talk and dare to stick their necks out, " she said. The actress-turned-filmmaker, daughter of Mahesh Bhatt, is currently busy with pre-production work of "Jism 2", which will go on floors soon. Two male actors are yet to be finalised for the film. |
Ranbir says no to childhood buddy's Rs.1 crore
Ranbir says no to childhood buddy's Rs.1 crore
Ranbir Kapoor disappoints childhood buddy Rohit Dhawan by apparently turning down his next film Mixing personal and professional relationships has often acted against the careers of several actors. Many senior actors in the industry have committed to projects for the sake of their friends, only to find no takers at the ticket windows. Looks like Ranbir Kapoor is being extra cautious not to walk in their footsteps by declining a signing amount of R 1 crore for his director dost Rohit Dhawan's next film. Our well-placed source reveals that Rohit approached Ranbir for his next movie, about a week after the release of his directorial debut, Desi Boyz. "Rohit discussed another movie with the same producers who produced the Akshay Kumar-John Abraham comedy. In fact, he even told them that he'd get Ranbir on board for their next venture. They only had to keep Rs 1 crore ready to pay him as the signing amount, " says our informer. The source further tells us that the two have been thick friends for a long time. "Ranbir is often spotted hanging around with Rohit at David Dhawan's residence, " explains our source, adding that considering this friendship, the director felt he'd get his buddy to confirm for his next movie. Instead, Dhawan Junior was in for an unpleasant shock when his actor buddy apparently declined. "Ranbir cited unavailability of dates for the next year and a half, saying he was already committed, " said our source. However, Kapoor's reasons are strictly professional. As our informer elaborates, "After the acclaim Ranbir earned for Rockstar and the buzz Barfi is generating, he's not looking to do run-of-the-mill roles and films. Even Ayaan Mukherji's Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani for producer Karan Johar is a different kind of romantic script. Since he didn't want to upset his friend, he told Rohit that he's preoccupied with prior commitments." When contacted, Rohit denied the story saying, "I haven't even opened my laptop after Desi Boyz, so I've no script to offer to Ranbir yet. I respect him as a professional so I can't ask him to do a film without giving him any narration or story idea. Currently, I'm preoccupied with my wedding, due on February 3 and will begin scripting my next only in March." |

My dad used to watch the boring five-day long Test matches which seemed to go on and on. But the IPL got me hooked onto cricket with its 20-20 game format, glamour and high drama. It's one tournament I follow religiously. The kind of hype cricket generates in India is enough to attract women. I guess ladies love the excitement that surrounds a cricketer, which is why you see many glamorous and beautiful women getting attracted to players. It is also about power. A scary toss to win I find the thought of dating a cricketer a little intimidating. Trust me, there's more drama in a player's life than in a film star's. It is sometimes scary. I don't think I would enjoy the extreme excitement and constant scrutiny that follows a cricketer- actress relationship. But then, you never know. I might just fall for someone someday (smiles). A few cricketers are on my Blackberry and send friendly messages to me. But I am not going to disclose any names because it doesn't take even a proper chingari (spark) to kick off the rumour mills (laughs out loud). But there are some similarities in an actor and cricketer's life. We're both as good as our last match/film. I remember how everyone wrote off Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) in 2010, but post the World Cup win, he was once again the heartthrob of the nation. Fame is indeed fickle! Boys will be boys The post-match parties are great fun. With so much testosterone packed in one room, there is bound to be some tempers fraying and flirting as well (laughs). Cricket, even if it's a galli (lane) match between two teams, is serious business. Our Chennai boys are very passionate about the game. We have a solid captain in Vishal and the rest of the team is also good. In fact, the final of the last league between Chennai and Karnataka was as intense as an India-Pakistan match. As far as the current India-Australia series is concerned, I am as upset as any other Indian fan. I think that Dhoni and his boys ought to buck up and focus on their game. They're hot! I am a big fan of Yuvraj Singh. He has great flair and plays from his heart. Shane Watson is another favourite. He's extremely sweet, courteous and gracious as a person. And a handsome bloke too! I had the chance to see Chris Gayle in action last year, and those blitzkrieg sixes were a treat for me. Virat Kohli has a lot of style and attitude too, both on and off the field. Lastly, Kumar Sangakkara is one of the few remaining gentlemen to play the gentleman's game. |
Mallika Sherawat to teach Vivek how to kiss in intimate scenes
Mallika Sherawat to teach Vivek how to kiss in intimate scenes
Mallika Sherawat has apparently promised to put Vivek Oberoi at ease before filming an intimate scene for 'Kismat, Love, Paisa, Dilli' She has almost made a career out of the number of kisses she has shared with her co-stars on screen. We could very well imagine then that a few steamy scenes would be no big deal for Mallika Sherawat. However, the same cannot be said about her co-star Vivek Oberoi, who for the first time will be seen indulging in some serious lovemaking scenes with her in their film Kismat, Love, Paisa, Dilli (KLPD). Our source says, "When Mallika read the scenes she was more than okay with the idea, but Vivek was a little skeptical. He has never kissed on screen before, but she told him that it would be no big deal." Buzz is that after watching the sizzling Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture, Mallika wants to go all out in the oomph department. Adds the source, "Most people know that she has no qualms about doing sensual sequences." Interestingly, one of them would be shot Buddha Gardens in Delhi, which is a popular lovers spot in the city. Says a source, "Vivek plays a hardcore Delhi guy and Mallika plays a Haryanvi. So the romance between them is also pretty loud and in your face. The writers thought this would be an ideal location since people would be familiar with the surroundings and therefore will look natural." Producers Amit Chandra and Kishen Chowdhary have apparently made sure they acquire all required permissions for the shoot to avoid any objections later on, considering that this will be one of the most important sequences in the film. |

Bollywood actor Abhay Deol and Neha Dhupia have pledged their support to P&G's signature campaign Shiksha, which aims at spreading education in India. Abhay and Neha have urged consumers to join the movement by buying P&G products such as Tide, Pantene and Olay, and enabling the company to channelise part of its sales proceeds towards education for underprivileged children. Irrespective of sales, P&G will commit a minimum of Rs.1 crore towards the donation funds to Shiksha every year. "Education is every child's right. It is heartening to see that Shiksha has helped educate 280,000 lesser-privileged children by giving consumers a simple way to contribute to the cause," Abhay said in a press statement. "I envision an India with 100 percent Shiksha as a country that is free of related issues like poverty and corruption, because after all - 'Padhega India, tabhi to Bhadega India (India would grow with educated people)'," he added. Former beauty queen Neha, who comes from an army family, said: "I have always believed that education is the right of every individual and it is heartening to see a movement like Shiksha that not only enables education for underprivileged children but also empowers consumers to contribute to the cause." The campaign is also urging P&G consumers to get involved with the cause and tell the company where in India should the company build more schools. |
